MEMORABILIA

The liberation in 1945 was such a special event that people wanted to preserve and pass on this memory forever.

Top display plate

The top display plate contains a number of liberation signs, largely produced in Maastricht, where much of the pottery came from.

Bottom display plate

Below are spoons, glassware, bracelets, coins and postcards that made the memory of the liberation visible in many living rooms in the Netherlands. The drum and the engraving on the left come from Tholen in Zeeland, which was inundated by the German army in 1944. Part of the evacuated population ended up in the Gelderland valley. Many of them experienced the liberation in Barneveld. The painting shows the food drops.
